The Food Talks Series 5: Ben Mackinnon of e5 Bakehouse – Monday 24th June - 7pm
Join us on 24th June at 7pm for an evening with Ben Mackinnon of e5 Bakehouse.
Ben set up e5 Bakehouse in 2011, initially baking sourdough in the pizza oven of a local restaurant in the mornings before they opened, and has made it his mission to revive the lost art of baking using traditional techniques and natural ingredients. Today e5 Bakehouse is famous for producing some of the best loaves in London and has grown into a bakery, cafe and school. Made using just water, salt and locally-sourced stone-milled organic flour and borne of 100% sourdough starter, the bread produced at e5 Bakehouse is really something special with a depth of character and flavour unseen in commercial loaves. As well as using traditional techniques Ben is currently establishing a market garden and developing an agroforestry arable farm in Suffolk with a focus on making the transition to a diversified farming system, and localised supply chain for bread.
We can’t wait to chat all things flour, starters and baking. Join us! Tickets are £28 and include a drink on arrival and food cooked by us.
